A downloadable game

Finally, a deckbuilding mod for a 1,400+ year-old boardgame which seeks to level the playing field between annoyingly skilled players seeking a new challenge and novice players who quite frankly find the base game challenging enough.

The first central idea of chess+ is the sideboard, the space next to the board where the two players place captured pieces. To play chess+ you simply need to shuffle the deck and place it in the middle of the sideboard between the two players. Each turn (the movement of one piece) a player may draw or play a card.

The second mechanic shared by all Chess+ decks is the player's Hold Deck, where you can save cards for later without having them in your hand. Both players' hold decks are placed on their side of the sideboard next to pieces they've captured. When drawing a card you may draw from your Hold Deck instead of the main deck in the center.

Diplomacy Deck

In the Diplomacy Deck, card effects are paid for by giving your opponent a type and number of pieces specified on the card. For instance, a card that costs 3 pawns requires you to return a captured pawn OR surrender your own pawn from the board, three times.

Other Decks

Given a successful beta test for the diplomacy deck, other deck themes are planned, such as a circuitry deck and a magic deck. They'll be added here as development continues.
